Medical micro needling of the skin (also known as collagen induction therapy) is an aesthetic procedure gaining popularity throughout the US. It is used to help with reduction of acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, minimize pore size, crepey skin and even stretch marks. It is also used to soften surgical and other wound scars. Using a small handheld device, thousands of micro-passages are created in the skin with small needles. This stimulates the skin and causes your own body to regenerate new collagen and elastin. In addition to treating specific areas, this provides an overall tightening, lifting and rejuvenation of the skin. These micro-channels do not ablate the epidermis (or top layer of skin) allowing for very little downtime. The results you see are your own, nothing artificial.
The other advantage over laser treatment is that it can be used on virtually all areas of the body and on all skin colors.
The treatment is micro invasive and the sensation is likened to micro dermabrasion. There is usually redness and there may be some pinpoint bleeding which resolves shortly after the treatment. Within one to three days most people will see the superficial redness resolve, while the deeper skin regeneration takes place.
Another benefit of the micro needling procedure is the increased absorption of cosmeceuticals and bioactive peptides which can be applied to enhance skin rejuvenation.

Micro Needling
Some results can be seen within a week, but with your body responding by releasing growth factors, the cascade of collagen and elastin production will usually be seen maximally at 4 to 6 weeks. This skin rejuvenating cascade may be maximized by adding a concentrated application of your own growth factors and peptides into the area being treated. This is the therapy being done with our Cellfrac procedure.
